What Happens:

-Off-season indoor pool suggestion by Gou/Kou
-DEEP INTEREST, especially at the prospect of using club funds
-Makoto is a mind-reading asshole
-Adviser turns the club down from being new and lacking accomplishments
-Accomplishments, Swimmers, "One more and I can swim all I want" [this for the rest]
-Running out of the teacher's room motivated to scout newbies
-INTENSE STARING
-Offers wooden bird to two potentials, "If you join, I'll give you this."
-Promptly turned down

What It Means For Him:

When he wants something, determination is a thing! Even if he kind of sucks at it. Swimming really is important to him and it's a strong motivation for him to overcome obstacles. The prospect of swimming is enough for him to kick into gear. (Granted the turned down bit isn't positive, but the rest is good motivation for him.)
